Direct chill casting (DC) and electromagnetic casting (EMC) are semi-continuous processes in which molten aluminum enters a fixed mold from the top and is then cooled to form a solid ingot. The molten aluminum begins to solidify due to the cooling of the mold wall (DC). Water cooling is very important in DC casting. Depending on the mold technology, the water jets can vary the intensity of the heat transfer. This influences the behavior of the cast strand and has important effects on the waste rate as well as on the quality. Our expertise allows us to master DC and EMC technologies and to control all these parameters perfectly while keeping manufacturing costs very low.
